CHAN is a renowned academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and serves as the Director of the Academic Committee at Sun Yat-sen University. He has been a member of the 12th and 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and is currently the President of Guangzhou Huashang College. Previously, he held positions as Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles and Vice President (Research and Development) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. From 2010 to 2015, he served as President of Hong Kong Baptist University. In July 2015, he joined Sun Yat-sen University as a professor in the School of Pharmacy and Director of the University Academic Committee. In 2019, he was appointed as a member of the Academic Consultative Committee of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. He has published over 600 research papers, which have been cited more than 18,000 times, ranking first nationally in the fields of pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmacy. He holds over 30 U.S. patents and more than 50 Chinese patents.
