Prof. Chen Guu-ying

Prof. Chen Guu-ying earned his master's degree from the Graduate Institute of Philosophy at National Taiwan University in 1960. He later served as a lecturer at Taiwan's Chinese Culture University and an associate professor at National Taiwan University. In 1972, he became a researcher at the Institute of International Relations at National Chengchi University. From 1978, he worked as a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, and in 1982, he was appointed as a visiting professor in the Department of Philosophy at Peking University. He is the founder of the journal Research on Taoist Culture. Since the 1990s, he has been active across the Taiwan Strait and returned to National Taiwan University as a professor. Currently, he holds a chair professorship at Peking University. His notable works include The Philosophy of Zhuangzi, Laozi: Modern Commentary and Translation, Zhuangzi: Modern Commentary and Translation, and The Construction of Taoist Yi Studies.
