Prof. Huang Chun-Chieh

Prof. Huang Chun-Chieh holds a bachelor's and master's degree in history from National Taiwan University and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington, Seattle. His research focuses on East Asian intellectual history, with a recent emphasis on the core values of Confucianism in East Asia and their interpretations. He aims to broaden the scope of East Asian intellectual history studies and explore the unique traditions of Confucian classical interpretation in East Asia. His major works include A Historical Study of the Concept of Ren in East Asian Confucianism and Confucian Classics and Ideas in East Asian Cultural Exchange: Interaction, Transformation, and Integration. He is also actively involved in university general education reform and has published The Idea of a University: Tradition and Modernity.  In 2010, he was appointed as a chair professor at the School of Chinese Studies at Renmin University of China. In 2024, his book East Asia in the Perspective of Intellectual History was published.
