Anwu LIN

Prof. Anwu LIN,Director and Professor of the Religion and Culture Research Institute, Tzu Chi University

Anwu Lin, born in 1957, graduated from the Department of Chinese at National Taiwan Normal University. He earned his master’s degree from the Philosophy Research Institute of National Taiwan University, and he is the first Doctor of Philosophy to come out of National Taiwan University. He studied under Mr. Sanzong Mu, a famous Confucian master in modern times. He is a Fulbright Scholar and visiting intellectual for the History Department at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He now serves as a Dean and Professor at the Religion and Culture Research Institute in Tzu Chi University, as well as being a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Tongji University, Faculty of Humanities. He has written and published more than 20 academic books and 100 papers.

He’s skilled in the areas of Chinese Philosophy, Methodology of Philosophical History, Humanistic Methodology, Comparative Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Confucianism and Buddhism, etc. He teaches college courses including History of Chinese Philosophy, Confucian School of Idealist Philosophy in Song and Ming Dynasties, Buddhism Research, Comparative Philosophy, Methods of Thinking, and Modernism.
